Logistics Management is an all-inclusive term that encompasses both planning and execution of four key aspects of logistics

  • Transportation
  • Distribution
  • Warehousing
  • Purchasing

Logistics management is the part of the supply chain process that plans, implements, and controls the efficient, effective flow and storage of goods, services, and related information from the point of origin to the point of consumption to meet customer requirements.

There are five elements of logistics which we handle in our software version for small and medium businesses

  • Storage, warehousing and materials handling.
  • Packaging and unitisation.
  • Inventory
  • Transport
  • Information and control

Transportation and warehousing are the two major functions of logistics. Transportation management focuses on planning, optimizing and executing the use of vehicles to move goods between warehouses, retail locations and customers.

Inbound logistics includes the receiving, storage, and inventory control of input materials. Operations are the value-creating activities that transform the inputs into the final product. Outbound logistics are the activities required to get the finished product to the customer, including storage and order fulfillment.
